A November in Cakes

I neglected to take a photo of the large batch of cupcakes that I do every month, but they were delicious. I made a spiced pumpkin cake with cinnamon buttercream and a dark chocolate cake with caramel buttercream. Below are a few of my recent cakes...

Halloween is Coming!

Halloween is coming! It's one of my favorite holidays and so I thought I'd get some practice on making spooky cookies....

Cat, Pumpkin, Ghost, Witch, Bat and Candy Corn

All together it looks so cute!

Happy Anniversary Patrick and Laura!

Today is my friends' Patrick and Laura's 4th anniversary. Laura asked me to make something for Patrick to deliver to him at work. She couldn't decide what she wanted so I got a little creative...

The bride and groom as cookies.

(and to Laura's as a surprise for her.)

Sweet September

This is a wedding cake that I got the privilege of assisting my mother in decorating. It was finished with satin ribbon and pearl dragees - all of which were individually placed on the cake by hand. The cake was very simple and elegant and was finished with fresh flowers on top. However, the florist arrived after we had completed the set up so I do not have a finished photo.

This is the accompanying groom's cake. It was chocolate with chocolate icing. The groom is an avid skier so the motif was mountains and on top, a skiing couple.

Roller skate!

A bridal shower cake. Hard to tell in the photo, but the ribbon around the bottom of each tier is navy blue and the scroll work is spring green.

A first anniversary cake. Pineapple cake with cream cheese frosting. Cream cheese is a very temperamental icing and can be a challenge for decorating, especially in the hot, humid Texas weather.

Aloha! Luau cupcakes with hibiscus picks in each.

Cupcakes of the month!

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

The past couple months have been a whirlwind. Below are a few of the things that have been keeping me busy.

Mike's birthday cake. He requested "The Elvis" -
banana cake with peanut butter buttercream.

A fairy themed birthday cake - minus the fairies.
They were added after delivery.

The smash cake for the fairy themed party.

A western themed 50th birthday party for our friend, Tom.
Complete with handmade chocolate boots on the large cake and each cupcake.

S'mores cupcakes - Chocolate cake, marshmallow buttercream and graham cracker garnish. The icing began melting off during delivery. Ten minutes out of the fridge and it's starting sliding off. Lesson learned - not doing that again! The client fortunately had space in a refrigerator to store them and said they save most. She said they tasted good anyway. Eek!

"Elvis" cupcakes - banana cake, peanut butter buttercream, and banana chip garnish.

Hard to tell, but this is red velvet cake with cream cheese icing.
Happy 4th of July.

Black Forest Cupcakes - dark chocolate cupakes with kirsh and marashino cherries. Garnished with whipped cream, cocoa dust and a cherry on top.
